Triplett Dance Academy

Dedicated to Dance Education Excellence

Pointe work, or dancing “en pointe,” begins with classical ballet training. A young dancer must achieve a strong technical level of ballet and physical strength before beginning pointe training.  To avoid injury or damage to feet or legs, our young dancers are evaluated individually in their ballet classes, and students must take at least two ballet classes per week to maintain the necessary skills for pointe.

In addition, choosing the right pointe shoe for a dancer’s foot type is an important factor. Pointe shoes need to have the proper box length and shape and the sole or shank of the shoe must give the proper amount of support. Triplett Dance Academy’s beginning pointe students are fitted by experts at the Rosin Box in Philadelphia.
